Tree Life Cycle

Saturday, October 9, 2021

This week we started our new theme for October - Orchard Harvest.  I am so excited about this theme and I am excited about Fall! I love this time of year. The changing seasons, especially in the Fall it is very exciting because of the beautiful colors and temperature change.
This week we discussed about seeds, roots, tree trunks, branches and leaves during circle time.
Some children said they have eaten pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.
We discussed how the roots give the plants nutrients.
The bark on a tree helps to protect the trunk .Inside the trunk there are rings showing how old the tree is.
Branches grow from the tree trunk and are called boughs and twigs.
Leaves come in many colors, shapes and sizes. Some animals build their homes with leaves.

Nature Walk

This week we went on a nature walk. The children noticed  some things we had discussed at Circle Time during the nature walk such as seeds, roots, tree trunks, branches and leaves.

They were excited with all the nature items they found and they were ready to use their items to make Tree Shakers.

Tree Shakers

Each child decorated the trunk of their trees and then they filled it with nature items they found on their nature walk.
Then they attached the green  topper.
They were so excited about their Tree Shakers!

Community Challenge
The Tiny Seed

During Circle Time I did a Community Challenge with the children. The children passed around a seed while singing
“The Little Seed”.
The child left holding the seed at the end of the song planted the seed in the pot in the middle of the circle. We repeated the song several times. The children had so much fun!

The Tiny Seed
Do you have the tiny seed,
The tiny seed,
The tiny seed?
Do you have the tiny seed?
Now plant it in the pot.

My Little Journal  &
My Ee Book

Each month we look forward to our new Journals. They are so much fun!
This month the children drew trees on the front of łheir journals and apples in the trees. The color in their journal was red and the shape square.
They also traced the letters for the month inside their journal
