Week Three Ocean Commotion in Pre-K

Lot’s of Fun 

Discovering the X-ray Fish

We Can See Right Through It

Why is it called an X-ray Fish? We can see it’s bones!

The children found this to be very Interesting!

X the Spot - Xx Early Literacy Fun


Seahorses 

Seahorses grab onto things with their tail to stop. They propel forward with a small fin. Daddy Seahorses help their babies. They carry the baby eggs before they hatch.

The children enjoyed decorating their own little Seahorse Puppets.


Rainbow Fish

The children enjoyed hearing the story of The Rainbow Fish and doing all the fun activities. 

Rainbow Fish swim in a group or a school.

They placed beautiful scales according to the number on the Number Fish. 

The children worked together and rolled a color dice to put a color on the Rainbow Fish. In the end they created a Beautiful Rainbow Fish!


Sea Stars

Sea Stars have 5 arms. These arms help them move on the ocean floor. What do you have 5 of ? You have five fingers on each hand and 5 toes on each foot. Let me see you move them!

Bumpy Sea Star Creative Art

The children had fun creating this fun art.


Who Am I ? I Can Read 

We read the book together, pointing to the words. The children had so much fun and put a lot of work into drawing ocean animals. They looked at the pictures of the ocean animals as they drew. 



It was a wonderful experience watching them draw.

Large Sea Creatures

Week 2 of Ocean Commotion we learned about Large Sea Creatures.


We learned that Dolphins talk to each other with clicks and whistles. The children tried to make the sounds that the dolphins do.

They found this to be very funny! They laughed and had fun trying to make the sounds.

For Creative Art the children enjoyed making their Jumping Dolphins. They liked turning their dolphins to make them jump.


Octopuses

Circle Time Discussion 🐙 

How many arms do you have?        

How many arms does an octopus have?

An octopus has 2 eyes and 8 arms with suction cups.

The children were very interested in our Octopus Discussion . 

The Children made an Octopus Windsock. They cut on the lines to make arms. They added eyes and sucker stickers.

Counting Suckers

What a Wonderful Octopus Counting Game! The children really loved this game! So cute and fun!

Learning about Whales

We learned that whales are the largest animals on Earth. They come up for air and breathe through a blowhole. They also have bristly teeth.

Sharks

Moving like a Shark from side to side. Sharks like to eat seals, fish and dolphins.

Moving like a Shark is Fun!!!!

Shark Teeth 


The children had a lot of fun with this Counting Game. They flicked the spinner to identify the number of shark teeth.They counted the shark teeth and put them in the shark’s mouth. So Fun!!!!


Baby Sea Turtles 

What shapes do you see on a turtle’s shell?                   The children’s answers were circles, ovals, triangles, squares and even stars.

Sea turtles have a large shell on their back to protect them. They are great swimmers and can swim very far.

The children enjoyed the Shell Shapes Activity. They created a shell design for their Baby Sea Turtle.


It was a wonderful week in Pre-K learning about Large Sea Creatures with Mother Goose Time.

Seascape

Exploration and Discovery

The children are so excited to be learning about our new Theme: Ocean Commotion. This last week we learned about Seascape.

First we learned about Ocean Water. The oceans consist of salt water, which help objects float better than fresh water.

I asked the children the Ocean Names. They did know some of them. We went over them and counted how many there are.

The children enjoyed the story Commotion in the Ocean


They explored Sea Shells and matched Coral Reef pictures in the Science Center.

We learned about the Ocean Floor. There are coral reefs, plants and animals that live on the ocean floor.

O is for Ocean 

Oyster Pearls  - What do you think is in an Oyster?

The children were very interested in this. They loved their oyster & pearl make & play art project.


Ocean Caves

We learned about Ocean Caves.There are some sea creatures that live in the ocean caves.

The children played a game diving for shells. They pretended they were cave divers. They collected shells under the cave / table and placed them on the correct number strip on top of the cave / table.

Constructing Caves 

The children love constructing pretend play structures. ❤️


Ocean Plants

We learned about Ocean Plants. Seaweed, Kelp and Algae are plants that grow in the Ocean. 


Coral Reefs

We learned about Coral Reefs. Coral Reefs are living structures found under water and they are fragile.

Stringing Coral Reefs

The children had a Blast Stringing Coral Reefs! They loved this Activity!

We discussed the fragile Coral Reef and to be respectful of nature.
