Learning About Feelings

Sunday, September 19, 2021 No comments

This last week we learned all about Feelings.

When we are happy we may smile or laugh!
When we are sad we may have a frown on our face or we may cry.
When we are mad it may show by the look on our face or by the way we act.
Other feelings we discussed are being scared 😱 or  surprised 😮.

During Circle Time we sang the song
“If You’re Happy and You Know It”

If You’re Happy and You Know It
Touch Your Head
If You’re Happy and You Know It
Touch Your Toes
If You’re Happy and You Know It
Wink Your Eye
If You’re Happy and You Know It
Reach Up High
If You’re Happy and You Know It
Say Hooray!!!! 😊

During Circle Time the children made Feeling Faces as I asked them how they look when they are Happy, Sad, Surprised and more. 😳😮😊😢

For Creative Art the Children Made Happy Horses

The children loved their happy horses!!!!❤️ We discussed that both words start with the letter H and we made the letter sound for Happy Horse.

What do you think makes a horse happy?

As a follow up activity at home I asked parents to name words and encourage children to listen for a word that begins with an H.

Show Your Feelings

This week during Make and Play the children made these adorable little mirrors.
As we have been discussing feelings this week, I asked  them how do your lips move when you are sad or happy?
The mirrors are perfect to explore making the feeling faces.

The children decorated the mirrors beautifully and they were so excited to take them home.

Fun Learning  Games We Played

I Am Game

During this game the children took turns spinning and placing the tangrams on the matching shape on the board. If the spinner landed on the puppy, they could take away a puzzle piece. They worked together to fill all the shapes before the puppy puzzle was complete.

Feelings Puzzle
The children used the spinner and then recreated the feeling face on a paper plate using the tangrams.

My Feelings Book

The children enjoyed working on these books. They did some of the work at school and took them home to be completed with their parents. They were very detailed and cute!

They glued feeling faces on the inside of the book and drew a picture on the last page of what makes them feel happy. 😊

We had a wonderful week learning all about feelings with Experience Early Learning.

Our First Week of School with Experience Learning Curriculum
Last week was such an exciting week! It was a time for making new friends, learning new things, learning new routines and the list goes on.
I think some favorites were learning centers, music time and art.

During Circle Time we sang the Hello Song:
Hello, Hello, Hello Hi to You
Hello, Hello, Hello Hi to You
I’m so glad you came today
We will learn and work & play.
Oh, Hello, Hello, Hello Hi to You

As we sang this we waved to our new friends. 😍

Creative Art

Friend Puppets

For the first day of school art the children made adorable Friend Puppets. They chose the color hair they wanted and decorated the puppet’s clothing. They drew their faces and glued on wiggle eyes.

New Friends and New Names

New Friends and New Names
Some of the children already knew each other from the three year old class room the year before but we also have some new friends. This means we are learning some new names.
The children enjoyed an activity called  What’s Your Name?
The children were encouraged to take a clothespin and find a  Nametag with the same beginning letter. Then clip the clothespin to the nametag. This Activity encourages Letter and Name Recognition.

Friendship Headband

We made special Friendship Headbands. These Headbands are about how a good friend should play. ❤️

This last week we discussed ways to be a good friend when we play together.
We Can:
1. Listen
2. Share
3. Be Kind
4. Help Others ❤️
