The past few weekends when my granddaughter Ariana came over to our house we had some fun with the DinoLand Theme from Experience Early Learning. Experience Early Learning

The Paleontologist
Paleontologists are sometimes called “Fossil Detectives”and their job is to find clues about very old plants and animals.

First Ariana wrote in her Field Journal. She wrote some of the vocabulary words included with the curriculum.

Excavation Site

She kept telling me she wanted to dig so we did the Excavation Dig Activity.

She brushed the dirt off the bone pieces one at a time.

Revealing all the bone pieces.

She enjoyed digging so much she didn’t want to stop.

Bone Puzzles
The next activity Ariana did was the Bone Puzzles.
Ariana laid out the bone pieces and tried to figure out how she wanted to arrange them.
She copied two of the dinosaurs on the puzzle sheet. She also created a few of her own designs.

T-Rex Teeth Necklace
Ariana made this super cute T-Rex Necklace. She created a pattern with the teeth triangles and straw pieces. Soooo Cute! 😍

Below I am sharing some of the amazing and fun activities we did. This is such a Fun Theme! Experience Early Learning

 The Arctic Fox
This week as we continued our theme Ice Castle, we learned about another Tundra Animal.

We learned about the Arctic Fox.

We first discussed the color of the Arctic Fox’s fur. How that the fur is a  different color  than that of a fox in the forest. I then gave each child a cotton ball and we discussed how the fur of a Arctic Fox is white like the cotton ball and it would be hard to see the fox in the snow. They placed their cotton ball on a white piece of paper. I explained to them how a fox uses camouflage to hide from predators.

For Creative Art the children made Arctic Fox Puppets .

They enjoyed making their own Arctic Fox puppets to take home and play with.

They enjoyed gluing on the cotton balls.

What Does the Arctic Fox See?
Concepts in Print/Writing

We read our books together “What Does Arctic Fox See?”

We talked about animals he may see and where he lives. They then added their own drawing of what he sees.

Table Top Math
Foxes & Berries

With this fun game the children took turns rolling the die. They then counted out that amount of berries. With the last step they added the berries to their fox’s den. Then their friend had a turn. 🦊 ❤️

This week in Pre-K we learned about Tundra Animals
and today I am sharing some learning activities we did while learning about Polar Bears.

All About Polar Bears

Some things we learned about Polar Bears:
Polar Bears have thick skin, so they don’t get cold.
Polar Bears can grow very large.
Polar Bears eat fish and seals.
Polar Bears live in the Northern Hemisphere.

Polar Bear Feelings
This activity helps children consider the feelings of others.
How do you think a polar bear feels when they catch a fish?
How do you think a polar bear feels when the ice in his Arctic Home is melting?
For this activity I rolled the pocket cube and the children crawled like a polar bear with the rolled emotion.

Making Polar Bear Masks

The children absolutely loved making their Polar Bear
Masks and the masks were just adorable.
They were excited to take a group picture together
with the masks. They wanted to hide their faces then show their faces.

Arctic Stories - Story Retelling

Last week the children enjoyed story time and heard the wonderful story Penry’s Great Adventure. This story book along with the story pieces was included in the curriculum.
This week I set the book & story pieces out on the table for the children to use to retell the story to each other. They also could choose to make up their own stories.
