J is for Jaguar

One of the children’s Rainforest Favorites this month has been the Jaguar.

In Circle Time I asked the children- What is something you can tell me about Jaguars?

Their number one answer was that Jaguars have spots. They said the Jaguar has so many spots it would be hard to count them all.

They enjoyed making their own Jaguars and adding spots. They turned out so cute! šŸ˜Š

Name Writing ✍️

The children love Writing! They love taking home their nameplates and journals. I laminate their nameplates so they can write their name over and over if they want. Writing practice fun ❤️ they can continue at home.

Engaging Our Preschool Families

This past week was our last week before the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Along with our Awesome Rainforest Activities we also included Thanksgiving Activities.

Mother Goose Time included a complete Celebration Kit for Thanksgiving.

There are activities included for Circle Time , Art , Snack, Games , Sensory and a Party Checklist for Family Engagement.

Here are a few photos from our Pre-K class.

Each year we teach the children about the First Thanksgiving and we finish our lesson with our Children's Thanksgiving Feast .

This meal involves family participation. The parents help us with the food. Some parents come to the Feast. The Feast is fun for the children and they can tell their families what they have learned about the Pilgrims and Native Americans / First Thanksgiving.

It was so much fun! šŸ˜ So thankful for our blessings!❤️

The way I share with my parents is through my blog and Facebook. I share on my personal page and I have a school page & pre-k page.

Family Engagement is a Beautiful Thing

We are thankful for our Wonderful Parents ❤️ We open our school to children ages 18 months - 5 years. When we accept children in our program our goal is to provide a loving, nurturing and Christian environment which prepares children to easily transition into kindergarten socially and academically by the time they leave our program. To plant the seed for the love of learning that will continue into
their future years as students. An important part of this is parent involvement and partnering together as teachers & parents.
When parents visit our website they will find important information for parents inquiring about our school. We also have information parents need such as the school calendar, the school supply list and more.
In August we have our Open House. The parents and children visit the classrooms and meet the teachers.

We shared information about Mother Goose Time with our parents at the beginning of the school year during Open House.

I also shared the daily schedule with our parents.

Edit
Each month our classroom is full of activities. We want our parents to know about everything that is going on . I send these Awesome newsletters from Mother Goose Time home each month. I also post activities on Facebook and my Blog. We are so busy!!!!!

We were learning so much and we went on a Field Trip with our parents!
We had so much fun!

Our parents are involved in special days and party days. Their children get so excited šŸ˜Š

Partnering Together

One of the ways that a parent can partner with their child's teacher is to follow up on their child's school work in their backpack at home.
One example is the reader each month. This is really important. These readers include Sight Words their child will need to know in kindergarten.
Another  important skill to follow up on is writing. The journals are awesome. Sometimes they are not fully completed at school.
If any activity / journal wasn't completed maybe an opportunity will come up to complete it at home.
We also work on important math skills such as number recognition, counting, one to one correspondence and more. Parents can follow up on these activities at home.
Parents can discuss the art of the day with their child. Sometimes it is science related.
This also prepares the child for doing future homework or future home school work at home.

Celebration Kits
As a teacher I have to share something that I absolutely love. I love the Celebration Kits that Mother Goose Time includes with their curriculum. It is awesome and encourages Family Engagement at parties or events.

Thank you Mother Goose Time for all you do to provide curriculum materials that bring the best to our program. For our Children, Parents and Teachers ❤️
Thank you to our parents as well šŸ˜❤️
