Ocean Exploration

Friday, May 4, 2018

This week we learned about Ocean Exploration.  It was an amazing week. First we learned about Divers and made Diver Gear to wear.

Dive, Dive, Dive Down Deep

What do you think divers wear in the water?

We discussed that divers wear masks to protect them and oxygen tanks to allow them to breathe.

The children said divers wear masks and a breathing tank when they dive.

The children had fun creating their own diving equipment.

Would You Rather?

Would you rather swim with a diver or a shark ? 🦈

The children said “A Diver”. Of course 😉

Shipwrecks

Pieces of ships can sink to the bottom of the ocean. These are called Shipwrecks.

The children had some interesting answers of what they thought would be found at a shipwreck.

Most of them said treasure.

 Gold

Jewels

A few of them said bones.

Furniture

Dishes

They absolutely loved making their beautiful treasure chests.

Shipwreck Hideaway Game

The children continued the shipwreck discovery and fun with this Awesome Game! Small fish hiding in the shipwreck and Hidden Treasures.

Submarines

Riding in a submarine,

Raise your periscope

Which Ocean Animal would you like to see if you were under water?

Submarine Window Collage

These turned out Beautiful and the Children loved making them!

Ocean Math - The Children used the Nesting Cups for a Sea Shell Counting Game.

Aquariums

We discussed Aquariums. I asked the children if they had ever visited an aquarium. I asked them what animal they would like to see when visiting an Aquarium.

They looked at the pictures on the walls and a lot of the children said Dolphins.

Letter Tanks

The children enjoyed this fun letter/word recognition game.

I also used the letter tank mats in the play doh center.

A little more Ocean Commotion in the Classroom. We had to such a Awesome Month! We Love MGT!
