A Repost from 2018 when I was blogging for Mothergoose Time

I originally wrote this when I was writing Blog Posts in exchange for Mothergoose Curriculum. It is a Blogger Program they no longer have but we continue to use and purchase their Awesome Curriculum.

My Story, My Passion
I want to start my story with my experiences. Where I started and where I’ve been. What shaped my
values and my mission.
My Early Childhood Adventures & story began outside the home in 1985 when my daughter was around a year old. I knew I needed to work to bring in extra income but I didn’t want to leave my daughter anywhere while I worked full time .I started working in home childcare 5 days a week for a family and I was able to take my daughter with me. I was able to work for this family for eight years .
During that 8 year span  I had two more children of my own . Two little boys. While working for this family the mother enrolled her son in a Mother’s Day Out. So, I enrolled my daughter as well. When I took my daughter to preschool and I was in that preschool classroom I knew that was where I needed to be. I needed to be in a classroom teaching children.
When my daughter attended preschool I noticed things that mattered to me as a parent and I implement those things into my classroom and my program today.

Such as Parent Communication

Parent Communication is very easy with the newsletters and art notes from MGT.
Other Important Things Are:
The Circle Time Resources
The Theme Posters
I used to spend many hours gathering these materials for my classroom before I started using MGT.

At that time the current job was phasing out and
another job opened up for me  to teach four year olds 2 days a week in a Mother’s Day Out Program in Town.

It was amazing to finally be in the classroom teaching children
early math, early science, story time, art, music and more. This is where I wanted to dedicate my time. If you have ever worked with young children you know it is not about making money, it is labor of love. It has to be or you can’t give the children all they need and deserve. It has to be something that you Love ❤️ to do not just a Job you arrive
at every day.

Mother Goose Time in the Class Room

I taught Pre-K and continued my education at ACC and also received my CDA.

My Guiding Values:
  1. Planning a safe and healthy learning environment
  2. Advancing children's physical and intellectual development
  3. Supporting children's social and emotional development
  4. Building productive relationships with families
  5. Managing an effective program operation
  6. Maintaining a commitment to professionalism
  7. Observing and recording children's behavior
  8. Understanding principles of child development and learning.
  9. Provide a nurturing Christian environment in which children can grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually.
Mother Goose Curriculum easily aligns with these values.
I have been introduced to many curriculums in 30 years of teaching and Mother Goose Time is by far the Best!

In August 1998 My Friend and I opened a five day Christian Day School in our church.
We were Co-Directors and I taught the Pre-K Class. Our school had children 18 months - 5 years. Our school had full
enrollment.
After about 3 years my husband got a job in Austin Texas.
We moved from Lufkin Texas to Bastrop .
In Bastrop I started working for Headstart. I worked there until of May 2004.

I then worked in another Early Childhood Program before taking a little time off in 2006 because of family illness.

All of these experiences in my life were blessings .I am thankful for all the experiences I have had and for everything I have learned. I worked with people who taught children before me and  l learned from them. ❤️All of this has made me the Teacher I am today. Everything is a Learning Experience to Use in Life!

All God’s Children Preschool -
In August 2008 I started a Preschool in our Church. After many years of teaching and directing in other Early Childhood Programs this had always been a dream of mine. To have a preschool within the church. I wanted to start a nonprofit learning rich preschool that parents could afford to send their children to and learn Christian values. I started the school with four little girls, myself and an assistant. With lots of determination and love , the school grew and has now reached it’s 15th year. Like I said, it’s not about the money if it is your passion..
Our school is a nonprofit school. Tuition fees basically pay for staff payroll, snacks,  curriculum , supplies and fun for the children.

Curriculum is one of the most important purchases a school can make.

I am proud and I know we are blessed to be able to use Mother Goose Time. I used to blog to receive Mother Goose Time Curriculum but now I purchase it and it is worth every single penny!!

We use Mother Goose Time Curriculum in both our  Pre-K 4 and Three Year Old Classrooms.

I love teaching young children because I want to reach out to as many children as possible and create a love for learning before they start Kindergarten. I want them to love school , to have a firm foundation and be ready for Kindergarten.

Animal Tracks

Sunday, January 9, 2022 No comments

We have been learning about Outdoor Sights and Sounds.

This week we learned about Animal tracks in the snow. If you walked into the woods on a snow covered morning you may find several different tracks on the ground.
You may find tracks from a  bobcat, deer, beaver, coyote, raccoon, skunk, squirrel and tracks from other animals.

Below is a Guide of Animal Tracks from Experience Early Learning.  Experience Early Learning

This last week the children did an Awesome Hands On Creative Corner Activity. This activity was one of their most favorite things to do! They loved this activity.

The Actlvity was called: Snow Tracks.

The children used shaving cream, white paint,
blue paper, a polar bear block center toy and a penguin block center toy

They painted on the shaving cream and paint to the bottoms of the polar bear and penguin.

They then made Animal Tracks.

They were excited to see the difference in the Animal Tracks.

Next week we are looking forward to learning about the Snow Owl with Experience Early Learning.

Orchestra - Cozy Winter Senses

Sunday, December 5, 2021 No comments

This last week the children learned about sounds, communication and musical instruments.

When children sing they can learn the sounds and meaning of language. When children dance to music they build and develop their motor skills. Music can also make children feel a range of emotions. Music also plays an important role in different cultures.
The children learned that some musical instruments have strings.

Some instruments that have strings are the guitar, electric bass, violin, viola, cello, double bass, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and harp.

In Creative Corner the children were going to make a Violin Prop so the children watched a little girl in a video playing a violin.

They were amazed that she could play a violin so well.

One of the children in my class shared the she takes violin lessons.

Creative Corner : Violin Prop

The children helped to create their violin props. They played together and pretended to run the bow over the strings. They could not wait to take them home and show their parents.

Piano Key Game

The children really enjoyed this fun game. For this game each child would flip a card over then find that colored music note on the Piano Key Poster. Then Tap that same colored key with a finger. The children continued taking turns and flipping over more cards.

Other instruments we explored this last week were the drum,
woodwind instruments, horns and piano.

Making Sounds Together

The children love ❤️ playing the instruments together. The louder , the better!! 😀❤️

It was a great week and next week we will be exploring Indoor Sights and Sounds during our Theme Cozy Winter Senses from Experience Early Learning. Experience Early Learning.
