This last month  we did so many fun Learning Activities with Experience Early Learning Curriculum . Our Theme last month was Treasure Island and today I am sharing some of the Literary and Math Activities we did.
I am so thankful for the opportunity to use  Experience Early Learning Curriculum with my students and to share our experiences on my blog.
In exchange for my unbiased and honest reviews Experience Early Learning has provided me with the curriculum free of charge.
I have used Experience Early Learning Curriculum in my Classroom since 2017. This Curriculum has been a True Blessing for me and my students! ❤️

Experience Early Learning Curriculum is so Rich with Activities in all Areas of Learning. I love including the activities from the curriculum in my Classroom Learning Centers, Circle Time and Story Time. This summer I have had the blessing of doing these awesome activities with my grandchildren! We have had so much fun together!
Today I am focusing on the Literacy and Math Activities they did Together this last month.

Number Islands Was a fun Hands on Math Game that the children did together. Children always enjoy water fun! ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ’ฆ
Number Concepts for this game:
Identifies Numerals
Counts to Determine Quantity

When playing this game the children placed the numbers in the water. One child rolled the die and counted the dots. The child then found the matching foam number and pulled that Island out of the water.

The children continued taking turns rolling and pulling out numbers until all the islands were removed.

We added sea shells and jewels to count and it added extra fun!

This was so much fun for them and would be loved in the pre-k classroom as well. ๐Ÿ’ฆ
During the school year we look forward to the wonderful hands on math games which teach the children important concepts. The children love the games!

Ahoy! ABC
Literacy Concepts for this activity:
Demonstrates Print Knowledge

My Granddaughter read us the Ahoy! ABC Book and drew the Letters in the Sand.

Here She is Writing Letter S.
This is so Fun! In my Pre-K classroom the children love Sensory Activities. They love having their hands in the sand while learning about the Alphabet.
It is such a fun way to learn letter recognition. I love the Ahoy! ABC Book that was included with the curriculum.

Build A Castle
Number Concepts - Counts to Determine Quantity

This fun board game involved rolling a die, identifying the number and moving the crab that many spaces. If they rolled 3 they collected 3 sand castle building cups. At the end of the game they counted to see who had the most sand castle building cups.
Then they built a Castle Together! ๐Ÿฐ

In the Pre-K classroom the children love rolling the die. Then counting how many dots is so exciting to them! Especially when they get to move their spaces! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ It’s so fun watching them!

They had so much fun building Sandcastles together!

Hidden Letters -Table Top Literacy

Island Hidden Words and the Alphabet Book

Literacy and Language Concepts: Letter and Word Recognition & Emergent Writing

With this activity they chose a card from the pile and looked at the picture and identified what letter it started with. They went through their Treasure Island Alphabet book and found the Letter and completed that page.

With the Pre-K  children we would go over this together with the Alphabet Cards during Circle Time.
Then I would set it out again for them at a table with the alphabet cards , pencils and crayons during learning center time. They could do as many pages as they wanted and finish the rest at home.
This would also give them an opportunity to share this activity with their parent.

My Little Journal
Concepts with this activity: Expresses Through Writing & Emergent Writing

The children drew a self portrait on the covers of their journals. They drew ocean animals as well.

They wrote about their Island, Map and Ship on the inside of their Journal.

I laid out the Sunset Words for them to use in sentences.

In the Pre-K classroom we would do our Journals together and then I would put them in the writing center for them to finish throughout the month as they visit the Writing Center.
This encourages writing all month long. I would also leave the Sunset Words in the Writing Center to encourage them to read and write the words.

Counting Treasure
Math Concept: Counts and Determines Quantity

The children chose a number on the mat and counted that many coins. They placed them in a pile on that number. They repeated until all the coins were on the mat.

This was a Super Fun Counting Game! They loved playing with all the coins!
For Pre-K we would do this as a math learning center game.

Read Aloud of the Sight Word Reader
Concept: Identifies Letters and Words
Each month the curriculum provides a Sight Reader to introduce three sight words.

In the Pre-K Classroom as we read it aloud the children point to the words from the cover to the last page. ๐Ÿ˜Š❤️
The children love reading the I Can Read Books..

The Sight Word Reader was Shell Story

The sight words  - where, are and here.

This has only been a small sample of all wonderful learning activities we do! It’s so exciting watching the children learn!
