Observation in the Classroom and The Sun ☀️

Sunday, October 8, 2017
This last week was a flurry of activity in the classroom as we started the month of October. New themes and new learning centers. The children were so excited.

In the Dramatic Play Center the children were so excited to find the Pumpkin Farm / Farmer's Market. We used the wonderful resources provided in the Pumpkin Patch packet - in the October box.
In Dramatic Play I have observed the children taking turns and sharing while playing in the Pumpkin Patch. Some were selling fruits & vegetables and some were buying.

I have observed the children gaining and improving in important social skills since we began the school year.

During Circle Time we talked about the Sun and the Moon. The children enjoyed rising and setting like the Sun with their bodies.
They said the Sun is very Hot!  They shared that the Moon shines at night!

Since school began in August I have observed increasing participation during circle time .
The children are starting to read each other's names. The are learning all the songs. They are also recognizing other words. Weather words, the months, the days of the week, and more. With each week they learn more. It is very exciting.

Rainbow Names- The children loved their Rainbow Nametags and tracing their names. In the classroom I offer many opportunities to encourage writing. I continue to see improvement in the way some of the children hold their pencil or marker.
Some of the children are tracing and some will improve with time. We work on this daily with our Journals or with other writing opportunities.

Sun and Moon Art
The children are always excited to make their masterpiece creation.
Sometimes they cut, draw, color  glue and more.
Most important of all , they enjoy art!  I have observed creativity and use fine motor.

They really enjoyed adding glitter to make it sparkle 🌟

 Sunny Shapes Game
The children enjoyed this game so much. I only had to explain it once and they enjoyed it during all of Learning Center Time.

Since the beginning of school I have observed an definite improvement in listening to  and following directions.

Writing in Writing Center
Since the beginning of school the children are starting to read all their classmates names. This is super handy in the writing center because they can now read their name and find their own journal to write in.

This will encourage them to come to writing center and feel satisfaction in being able to find their name.

I observe children that are progressing in all areas of development with daily activities, a schedule, routines and more with Mother Goose Time. Their day is full of activities that support social &emotional development , language & literacy, science, physical development , mathematics, social studies and creative development. I am excited and look forward to all they will be learning this school year. With observations it will also be exciting to track their progress.
Disclaimer: I am so thankful for the opportunity to use Experience Early Learning formerly Mother Goose Time Curriculum with my students. I can’t wait to share our learning experiences on my blog. In exchange for my unbiased and honest reviews, Experience Early Learning has provided us with the curriculum free of charge.
