“0ne Potato, Two Potatoes”
Called One Crab, Two Crabs
1 crab, 2 crabs, 3 crabs, 4,
5 crabs
Clacking at the shore
6 crabs, 7crabs, 8 crabs, 9,
10 crabs walking in a line.

As We Looked At the Crab Conversation Poster
We discussed some things we already know about crabs.
They walk funny!
They have really big claws!
They pinch you!

Here are  some new things we learned about Crabs this week!

You can find crabs living on rocky shores, beaches and in the ocean.
Crabs usually have a distinct sideways walk.
Some crabs can walk forwards or backwards, and some are capable of swimming.

Some Amazing Crab Art
The children made the cutest Crab Shakers for
Make and Play!

They cut out the legs and pinchers and colored the cup red.
They glued the legs and pinchers on & applied the sticker eyes. So cute!

Crab Grab Game
This Activity was totally hilarious and so much fun! First I set out a Sand Mat with Jewel and Sea Shell Counters. I also added tongs for each child. For this activity the children used the tongs to grab the jewels and sea shells.

The Children Learned That Grabbing With Tongs Isn’t So Easy
They were laughing so hard because they couldn’t use their hands and they could only use the tongs to grab the shells and jewels. The jewels started flying across the room when they would grab them with the tongs.

They were saying some funny things like:
Do you need to cheat?
This is terrible!
I’ll show you how to do it!
I will never get this! πŸ˜‚
This is crazy! πŸ¦€

My grandson said he laughed so hard his tummy hurt! πŸ˜‚

Sandcastles At The Beach
I will make a Magical Sand Castle!
My Sand Castle will be Ancient!

As we looked at the Sand Castle Inspiration Poster we noticed all the rooms and the beautiful detail.

I asked them what rooms they thought were in the castle.
They thought a royal ballroom, a dining room, a dragon dungeon and an armory room were inside the Sand Castle.

Creative Corner & Creating Sand Castles
Using various materials such as Sand Sheets, Cellophane & Sand the children began to create their Sand Castle Creations.
They drew their castles, added cellophane for water or windows. They cut out their castles and glued them to the blue background paper.

Their Castle Designs Were Really Beautiful!

Build a Castle Game

The children are always really excited to play a board game
from Experience Early Learning. So they were excited to see this game.

It involved rolling a die, identifying the number and moving the crab that many spaces. If they rolled 3 they collected 3 sand castle building cups. At the end of the game they counted to see who had the most sand castle building cups.
Then they built a Castle Together!

We had such a Wonderful Week of Learning with Experience Early Learning. We learned All About
Crabs & Sandcastles and  can’t wait until next Week’s Learning Adventures.
