Distance Learning

Well , things have really changed a lot in the last 6 weeks. I used to share photos of the children in learning centers, doing art, reading, building, writing, laughing, playing, pretending and more. Now during this time of uncertainty the classroom is quiet and empty.  Now I am blessed when parents share their children’s learning moments with me. ❤️

In March I prepared Home Learning Bags with 2 weeks of  materials for my students in the Pre-K Class. We had two weeks of Pond Life Curriculum Activities to finish and we would not be returning to the classroom because of the  pandemic stay home order.

Here is a photo with the activities I sent home in their 1st bag with learning materials from Experience Early Learning.

I was excited that a few of my parents shared photos of my students at home involved in the learning activities. 😍

Here are some photos of them learning and having fun with Pond Life Curriculum:

This student created a mini pond. She collected nature items that could be found in a pond habitat. She found a tadpole and a frog along with other items.

This student is reading his Sight Word reader- Pond Life
and coloring his I Spy Alphabet Page.
He’s making a Cute Dragonfly Puppet.

This Student is doing the Snap a Mosquito Rhyme.

More Pond Life Learning and Fun

After being out of school the first two weeks it was determined by the Governor that we would be out another month so I took a week and prepared 17 Home Learning Packs with 4 Bags for each Pre-K student to complete in April.

Our New Awesome Theme: Birds and Eggs
From Experience Early Learning
I was really sad not to teach this in the classroom and not to see my children’s sweet faces.

Here is what was in each bag:

One week they were learning about In the Nest. So for one of their wonderful art activities they got to create a nest.
This student is creating her Nest.

Another week they were learning about Bird Parts. She enjoyed creating a Bird Body Pillow and a Bird Beak.

She had fun painting her egg and doing a few more fun activities below.

Thanks to Experience Early Learning for the Awesome Activities! Thank you, Parents for the photos!

Circle Time Learning

Preschool Circle Time is an Important Time in the School Day Schedule! It starts the beginning of our Day Routine after Arrival Time. When the children are arriving at school in the morning they greet their friends and enjoy table games together in our classroom. After Arrival Time we all gather on the rug for Circle Time! Circle Time is a Special Time that children come and meet on the rug with the teacher in the morning.
It is a time of Greeting and Communicating with each other & For Learning Important Concepts.

During my Circle Time Routine You can see - Above
Resources l used from Experience Early Learning Formerly Mother Goose Time.

Circle Time is a fun time as well as a Learning Time . The children are gaining so many skills during this time. They are gaining skills in Literacy, Language, Early Math , Science and more.

Music and Visuals are very important during Circle Time because the children really love music! Music also helps with learning.

I start with the Hello Song and They always love a Silly Puppet during the Hello Song! 😊
We sing 🎶 Our Helpers Song and the children read each other’s names and jobs.
During Circle Time we sing 🎶 the Calendar Song and the children read & spell the Month. We count the days and the calendar helper puts the number/date on the Calendar.
We sing 🎶 The Days of the Week , The Seasons and the Months. I use visuals for all these words as we sing them.
We sing 🎶 The Weather song and discuss the Weather . We read the Weather Words.
The Helpers move weather and season visuals.

We have our Monthly Letters and Numbers
That We Focus On from Experience Early Learning.
We focus on the Sight Words from Our Reader each month.

Our Calendar Numbers also will make a Pattern.

Here are More Circle Time Resources that I use as well from EEL.

I also Discuss Our Topic of the Day Everyday with the Children on the Circle Time Rug.

I love Circle Time with the Children. I am really sad that
I will not be gathering with my class on the Circle Time Rug any more this school year. They are in my heart, mind and memory! ❤️ I love them all and wish them good health and safety during this time!
Governor Greg Abbott announced on Friday that we will not be returning to school for the remainder of the school year.

Birds & Eggs - Nest

This last week was our fourth week to be away from the classroom. If we had been in the classroom this week we would have started on our theme Birds and Eggs-In the Nest.
I sent home learning bags at the beginning of the week for my children for the entire month of April-Birds & Eggs.
The Learning Bags have the daily activities that the children can do at home with their parents.

This Week the topics were :
Nest
Egg
Hatchling
Bird food and
Learning to Fly

What We Learned About Birds This Week:
Birds build nests to have a place for their eggs to hatch. The egg colors range from ivory, beige, gray, blue, red, white, green, tan or orange. The oval shaped eggs are most common.
Chicks can take up to 24 hours to hatch. They have an egg tooth to help them break the shell and push out. Breaking out of the shell is called “pipping”.
Most birds eat seeds, insects, plants, fruit and other small animals.
Birds don’t have any teeth so they have to digest their food whole.
Birds have bones that are hollow on the inside like straws and this helps them to fly. Birds protect themselves from land predators by flying.

Even though I used up most of the materials by sending them in the Home Learning Bags , I tried to put the activities together for my grandchildren this weekend.

Some Activities From Week One

Making a Nest
My grandchildren went outside and collected nature items for nests.

Making Nest

Who’s in the Nest?

My grandchildren did this using our family names.

Baby Bird Pet

Egg Alphabet

I modified this game for older children. I placed the plastic eggs around my living room with a letter of the Alphabet inside them. The children took turns getting an egg. They opened it and placed their letter on the game board. Then they drew a number , so then they thought of a word with that many letters that started with that letter of the alphabet
& wrote it down.

They had a wonderful time doing all the activities.
💚🐣

This week my students picked up their Home Learning Bags. I just had to share this sweet photo! ❤️ She was so Excited!

Birds & Eggs - Home Learning Bags

When our school let out for Spring Break my plans upon returning to class was to continue the Pond Life Theme for two more weeks. Well as we all know things have completely changed the last 3 weeks . The Pandemic has brought so many changes for everyone.

All schools are now closed and parents are homeschooling their children in Texas as well as in other States.
The week after Spring Break I contacted my parents and sent home Learning Bags for my students to finish the Pond Life Theme we had started in class.
I was excited to receive some home learning photos from some of my parents and it looks like homeschooling is going very well! I love seeing their sweet faces! I miss them so much!

Last week Governor Abbott extended school closures until
May 4th.
When the closure was extended I decided to go ahead and start preparing April’s Theme into Home Learning Bags for my Students. This is something I wanted to do for my Pre-K Class during this crazy time.

April’s Theme for Experience Early Learning is Birds and Eggs.

I started preparing the Home Learning Bags last Wednesday and didn’t finish until Sunday.

Here are some photos of  Home Learning Bag Preparation.

There are four weeks of Curriculum.

Week One- In the Nest
Week Two- Bird Parts
Week Three- Tree Birds
Week Four- Exotic Birds

Week One

Week Two

Week Three

Week Four

Below are the contents for each packet.

Week Four

With the completion of the bags I will be contacting the parents this week to pick up their child’s learning bag. The last learning bag pick up was 100% successful.

I wish I could do this amazing theme in the classroom with my children but at least I am able to send their At Home Learning Bags from Experience Early Learning. I am interested and waiting to see what the rest of the school year holds.❤️
