A New School Year

Sunday, September 3, 2017

The children and parents were excited to start our first day of school. Despite Hurricane Harvey's visit to Texas last week we were able to start school on Thursday. It only delayed us one day.

We had Circle Time . We sang Circle Time songs. We discussed the helpers, the months and the days of the week. We talked about the seasons and what happens during the different seasons. We counted to 31 because it was August 31st. We talked about the weather. One child mentioned the hurricane briefly. He talked about the winds and the rain. They looked outside the window for the weather and said it was Sunny. We talked about making new friends at school. We looked at the topic poster and I told them we will be learning about our bodies.

Writing our names and learning each other's names. Everyday they come to school they will do activities that involve their names. They will soon if not already recognize their name and soon after their classmates names. They see their names on the helpers chart and that is very exciting for them.

Then it was art time and the children were really excited to make their puppet.  They were talking about hair color and how they looked.

The Parent's loved the puppets.

September's curriculum is My Amazing Body from Mother Goose  Time.
