We are so excited about the June theme from Mother Goose Time.https://www.mothergoosetime.com/ It is called Alphabet Island. It is filled with the most amazing learning activities all month long. Today I want to share with you our Island Day Fun.

Ariana, what do you think makes boats move?
Steam can make a boat move. Why do boats have sails? She said because they use the wind to move them to make the boat go left and right.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Looking For Ii on Alphabet Island - Emergent Writing/ Fine Motor

There are lots of trees and sand on an island.- Ariana

                                                         Looking for Islands-Exploration

Ariana, what helps you see things really far away ?

A spyglass. You see stars with it but not from an airplane. You can see it from a tree house.

 Spyglass- Physical Science/ Drama

Floating alphabet Islands-Scientific Reasoning
Will they sink or will they float when placing items on them?

She did see some sink and some did float. She found this exciting.

She had a lot of fun with this game. She finished with her own little game in the end because she enjoyed the water play so much. She pretended the whale was eating the alphabet. I heard her saying the letters of the alphabet as he was eating them. Lol!  :)

Number Islands-Number Concepts

Counting the dots
Matching the number
Removing the Number Islands as they are matched

Island Names-Emergent Writing and Fine Motor

If you discovered an Island what would you name it?
I would name my island The Beach.  -Ariana

On Ariana's Island paper she made a map. She said the map is to help pirates so they don't get lost. She said that X marks the spot and that is where the treasure is. Then she drew waves in the water and said the waves get so big that you could drown and that's why you have to follow the maps directions. She drew a pink boat in the water on the map because said pink was her favorite color.

Ahoy!ABC-Reading Comprehension

Ariana loved this beautiful book. Wonderful for Letter Recognition and more.

Island Exploring- Listening Comprehension
An additional activity my granddaughter enjoyed doing.

Throughout this theme I saw my granddaughter use multiple skills and expand upon what she has learned and go further with the learning experience in different areas on learning. Not only with one learning activity but most of them. It was very exciting. I can't wait until I am using the curriculum in my classroom.

One of my most favorite times of the school day is Music Time. I love watching the children get involved and I love seeing their faces. their smiles, the laughter and the silliness. One of their favorite things to say is "Let's do it again". They can't get enough. When the songs and rhymes relate to the theme it just brings it all together.
Listed are this month's Alphabet Island theme days and songs/rhymes/finger plays:

Children gain many important skills during Music Time. Such as Phonological Awareness, Concepts of Print, Listening Comprehension, Number Concepts, Gross Motor, Social Skills and more.

Some of my favorites this month are One Crab, Two Crabs , One Little Treasure, Sand Castles are Falling , Volcanoes Waiting and more. They all they involve a lot of interaction and that is what children love. Suggested interaction activities are above each rhyme or song in the Teacher Guide Book.   https://www.mothergoosetime.com/  Music can be a wonderful way to end the school day.

Every month the theme curriculum from Mother Goose Time includes the Circle Time Song Ring.It also includes the Theme related Music CD. All such wonderful resources.

Happy Father's Day

This month during our Alphabet Island Theme
It is Father's Day! Time for fun, love and celebration!
Today Ariana made something special for her Dad.
She used her handprint to make a
Father's Day card.
She drew some fish lips and
 added a wiggly eye.
She put a straw for a
fishing pole
and drew a
line from the end of the straw to the
mouth of the handprint. When she was done
it was the most adorable card for her dad.
See card below. It is so cute !!

She had a super fun time doing this art activity. I just love it ! I know her dad will too.
She also added her name to the bottom of the page.

I asked Ariana how her dad keeps her safe.

She said my dad protects me. He will get in front of me and kill a bug. She really hates bugs. Lol!

I love my Dad because we play tea party together.

Sharing a Yummy Fish Snack

Counting Fish

While eating the goldfish I asked her what she likes to cook with her dad and
she said my dad doesn't cook. :)

She said I like to fish with my dad, and he loves to fish.

My dad gets his fishing pole and hook and throws on the bait. He puts the bait on the hook and there is a string that you throw into the water. My dad catches big and little fish.

Today we sang a special song and said a fun rhyme when we talked about Dads.

I love Daddy, I love Daddy
Yes, I do. Yes, I do.
and
Five Little Fishes

Games to Play
Fish Toss Game
Pin the Tie on Daddy Game
My Daddy Rocks

All of these really fun activities are included in the Father's Day Celebration Kit from Mother Goose Time.

This is such a great kit for fun and celebrating Dads and all that they mean to us.
